Rules for Understanding Other Religions

Three rules for understanding other religions (summarized):

  1. When you want to learn about a religion you should ask the adherents to that religion and not its enemies.
  2. Don’t compare your best with their worst.
  3. Leave room for “holy envy."

--Krister Stendahl, Lutheran Bishop of Stockholm, from a press conference held at a Mormon church in Sweden. Krister strongly endorsed the building of an LDS temple in Sweden, and called the press conference to give his counterpoint to other opinions and encourage the building of the temple.
